1951 - 2008

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend has gone home. Bruce L. Whisnant passed away peacefully Monday, May 12, 2008, at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. He was 57.

Bruce was born May 1, 1951, in Searcy, Ark. He moved to Missouri with his parents when he was a year old. He resided there until he joined the Marine Corps at the age of 18, and served four years. During his service, Bruce married Sharon, who has been his loving wife for 37 years. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he took employment with McDonnell Douglas. He continued his employment after they became Boeing Aircraft Company. After 28 years, unfortunate medical reasons forced him to retire early.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Katrine and Chester Whisnant.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Whisnant of Ridgecrest; son and fiancée, Nick Whisnant and Michelle Doak of Ridgecrest; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Daniel Massey of Ridgecrest; daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Steven Bills of Ridgecrest; sisters, Micki Horstman of Fenton, Mo.; and Carolyn Whisnant of Searcy, Ark.; grandchildren, Jeremy Whisnant, Justin Whisnant, Caitlin Massey, Vanessa Whisnant, Shiloh Massey, Jackie Bills, Sladen Hisey, Chrissy Hisey, Christopher Drennon, Lacie Whisnant, and Dominick Massey.

There will be a graveside service Monday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Desert Memorial Park. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Bill Logan.
